A Q&A with Scotty Edmed

02/11/2020

Hello all, this week I'm back with an RAF A330 pilot from RAF Brize Norton. Enjoy!

1) What made you want to join the Air Force?

Answer: I always wanted to be a pilot with many members of my family being in the RAF.

2) What is your favourite moment/experience you've had flying?

Answer: Getting my wings.

3) What is your favourite plane and why?

Answer: The Harrier because it's the first successful VSTOL aircraft and a great British engineering milestone.

4) What plane would you like to fly if you never flew the A330?

Answer: Harrier

5) What would be your advice to any young aspiring RAF pilots?

Answer: My advice would be to work hard, never give up and make sure you are fully prepared for aircrew selection. Knowing as much as you can about the RAF and a typical pilots career will help you answer any questions during the interview.

6) What is the A330s role in the RAF?

Answer: The Voyager is the RAF's sole air-to-air refuelling tanker and also operates as VIP transport as well as air transport.

I'd like to personally thank Scotty for agreeing to answer these questions,

Hope you all enjoyed reading!

Cheers!
